Spring Break Work:
Using the videos provided on the blog and your notes answer the following questions.
1. (Unit 1; Exploration and Colonization) What were some of the political, economic, religious, and social reasons for the establishment of the 13 English colonies?
2. (Unit 2; Celebrate Freedom Week) Identify some of the colonial grievances listed in the Declaration of Independence and explain how those grievances were addressed in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights (the first 10 amendments).
3. (Unit 3; American Revolution) List and analyze the causes of the American Revolution.
4. (Unit 4; Writing the Constitution) Summarize the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.
5. (Unit 5; More Perfect Union) How does the U.S. Constitution reflect the principles of limited government, republicanism, checks and balances, federalism, separation of powers, popular sovereignty, and individual rights. You must choose at least three principles to analyze.
6. (Unit 6; Early Republic) What is judicial review?
7. (Unit 7; The Age of Jackson) How did expanded suffrage lead to the election of Andrew Jackson?
8. (Unit 8; Manifest Destiny) What were the political, economic, and social roots of Manifest Destiny?
9. (Unit 9; Industrialization: North and South Economies Develop) Describe the economies of the North and South. How did they differ?
10. (Unit 10; Reform and Culture) Evaluate the impact of reform movements, including educational reform, temperance, the women's rights movement, prison reform, abolition, the labor reform movement, and care of the disabled.
10. (Unit 10; Sectionalism and the Civil War) List one cause of the Civil War.
11. What year was the Louisiana Purchase?
12. What year was the Mayflower Compact signed?
13. What year was the Declaration of Independence written?
14. What year was the United States Constitution written?
15. What years were the Civil War?
16. What year was Jamestown founded?
